Clear the Cobwebs!!

Oh yes!! This post is all about clearing the cobwebs and moving on; which brings me to the thought of those poor hard- working spiders. I remember the time when I used to actually watch these species make their webs till my mother darling would come with a broom! One Swash! And there it was gone with a clear tone admonishing me for merely staring at them! “You have to clear this and keep the house clean”. Oh well, all the hard work down the drains!! Believe it or not, I used to actually feel bad for these eight legged species whose dedicated work was turned into nothing within a span of few minutes!!

Years passed, and so did a lot many these incidents which today play no significant role in my memory. But today I write this with a very different thought. I couldn’t help but wonder that just as we clear the cobwebs in our houses, isn’t it important to clear the cobwebs of our mind??!!

I know this sounds like a very random thought – and I admit it to be so. It so happens that certain incidents at certain times do make me go paranoid…and am sure it happens to most of us. We are so consumed by a typical line of thought/ behavior/ expectation/ action that anything that may not fall in-tune with our thinking tends to affect us. I was sitting and deeply contemplating on the “hows” and the “whys” and the “only-ifs”; needless to say with no definite answers. No amount of small talk was helping and I was at a total loss. It was then the miraculous spider-web came into my mind!!

Just as we know that its important to clear the cobwebs of our homes, isn’t it equally (if not more) important to clear the ones in our mind?? Whoever said “Our mind is a great slave but a horrible master” could not be more right. We need to clear our minds from those very happening and typical negative thoughts so that we are able to focus on the present and accept each day (with or without a smile!!). Rest assured that as we move on, there will be plenty of spiders and cobwebs. Please clear them but see that you don’t hurt the spiders!! Live and let live!

  2. clearing the cobwebs...well said... :) i will pick from where u left...live and let live...

i was just wondering...is it possible to clear a spider without really hurting it??

is it possible to have the best of both worlds?? or maybe sometimes we just have to weigh it and see if this hurt is worth clearing or not!!

  3. @ Deepa: Thankz gal...am glad u liked it! and i hope the thought stays!

@ moli: That is a very interesting perspective! I would say, it is more to do with you realizing that the cobwebs have to be cleared b'cos they take u away from a state of happiness......and that no matter what happens, you choose to be a happy soul!
And yes, it may happen that you hurt yourself in the process.....or you maynot - that purely depends upon how you handle it!!

Thanks for vising and keep writing!! :) :)

  5. Hey Arati, your blog is really good. It's indeed impressive, esp. the way you have organized your thoughts. In fact, you have actually summed up the dilemma which most of us go through (even I experience that most of the times) in crisp words. I can say only one thing - can't wait for your next; be more regular, gal! :-)

  6. A good read as always! :)
Just thinking out aloud ... Cobwebs happen to be cobwebs - only because we think of them to be that way....It probably is just our mind's weakness towards an issue/person/situation that probably causes friction within one self which is when you could possibly end up hurting yourself or others or viceversa!!

So I guess learning to be at peace with oneself (positive thinking etc.etc. ) irrespective of the external environment is a way we can stay unaffected by what we would have otherwise perceived as cobwebs....or may be not...like you mentioned - It's all about how you choose to handle it!!

  8. Gal you blew me down! Who thinks so much Spider , cobwebs , childhood.. lol

    Just kidin..

Loved the Read.. Wish there was a shift + Delete button in our memory.. clearing cobwebs would have been easy.. sadly there isn't any..

As we grew older theres one thing that always been fixated to our personality and thats our learnings..

    Learnings from Mistakes,
    Learnings from Relations
    Learnings from Schools
    Learnings from College
    Learnings from Work
    Learnings from Friends..
Learnings from Mistakes .. oh thats mistakes twice.. but we indeed learn a lot from our mistakes...

These cobwebs i think are our learnings generally.. depends on our perception weather these cob-webs are from mistakes or from anything else.. These cobwebs define us... they define our very existence...

Preserve them or destroy them u can never ignore them.. thats how its meant to be..

BTW one important feature of cob-web is they are very delicate.. moment u think u need them no more... swooooosh.. with ur mummaz broom... they are gone!
    Take Care...

PS: every successful person has a painful story... every painful story has a successful ending.. Whenever u feel the pain u knw that u r about to be a big hit.. :))

    Love
